Why natural remedies for hair loss are the way to go?
You are probably reading this after trying the “normal” route of tackling hair loss with shampoos full of chemicals that are said to “reverse” hair loss or tablets containing biotin to known “thicken” your hair. If these empty promises aren’t doing you any favors, take a few minutes and check out some of the following tips to get longer, fuller and thicker hair… with natural remedies for hair loss.
It can be frustrating trying to find ways to make your hair grow back thicker or longer, especially when you have no idea where to start. Before trying to find a suitable remedy for your hair, we must first take a look at what may be the cause of your hair loss…
Try these top natural remedies for hair loss and hair fall
Hair loss can stem from a number of things, from old age to poor health; you could even be completely healthy and still notice you are losing hair. Your day-to-day life plays a massive role in how you manage your work, family/friends, and health. We all juggle work and social commitments on a daily basis, which can really start to take a toll on our well-being, which is why stress and anxiety are closely linked with hair loss. So before you spend hours searching for a cure for your hair loss, see that you are managing your stress and taking time out for yourself.
Now that you know what may be causing your hair to fall out let’s see which of the remedies noted matches your condition…
1) Amla
Also known as Indian gooseberry. What every Indian had in their homes growing up…not only does amla oil give you beautiful thick hair by stimulating the growth of hair follicles, but it also prevents dandruff and strengthens the scalp hair- reducing hair fall. It delays the early greying of hair as well. Apply this to your hair and let it soak in for an hour or (more if you want to), then wash it out with shampoo, do this once or twice a week for good results. After the first application, you will notice your hair feeling more conditioned.
2) Onion juice or onion oil for hair loss
I know what you are thinking…won’t it smell bad? Well, yes and no; when you make it yourself, you will notice a strong smell, but you can reduce this by adding a few drops of essential oil to it; I normally put 7-8 drops of lavender oil in.
This is probably one of the best natural remedies for hair loss I have tried that actually worked! I have noticed that red onions work better for this. Chop up one or two onions and grind them, don’t add any water while mixing/grinding the onions, and don’t grind them too much. After this, you can take out the juice using a muslin cloth…place the onion paste in the cloth and squeeze the juice into a bowl and then add the essential oil to it. If you don’t want your whole head and hair smelling like onion, use a spray bottle and just apply the juice to your scalp- covering the hair roots. After an hour or two, wash it out with shampoo, and you will notice less or no hair coming out. Make sure to keep the bottle in the fridge for longer use.
You can either make the juice yourself (which I recommend) or you can buy the onion oil.

3) Neem oil
Neem oil is extremely rich in nutrients and helps your hair as well as your skin. If you want your hair to feel more conditioned, softer, and healthier, then this is for you to try. The anti-oxidants and vitamin E it contains work very well together, especially for promoting hair growth on the scalp. The hair follicles are stimulated, and cell division can happen, resulting in a healthier scalp free from dandruff and infections.
You can either massage it directly on your scalp or add it to another oil or your shampoo.
4) Rosemary oil for hair loss
Rosemary oil helps to supply blood to your scalp; this circulation of blood stops hair follicles from dying and helps to avoid any breakage of hair- which can be very helpful for treating androgenic alopecia. You can use this by boiling water with rosemary in it and then transferring the water into a spray bottle. Leave it in the fridge to cool.
You can also buy rosemary oil if it is easier for you.

5) Ashwagandha
Another natural remedy for hair loss is this special Ayurvedic herb. This brilliant herb targets stress directly. Stress in the body creates inflammation- shutting down essential systems that create hair loss. Stress disrupts the cycle of hair growth and puts each follicle into the resting phase of the cycle, therefore, new strands are not created.
Ashwagandha helps balance cortisol levels, maintaining the strength and health of your hair, hence less breakage.
You can buy ashwagandha tea or tincture and add the recommended amount to your water and drink it every day. Or you can apply it directly to your hair by making a paste with the powder form.
6) Try Castor oil, a natural remedy for hair loss
There are many benefits to castor oil for hair growth. It improves the circulation of blood to your scalp; it is antifungal and antibacterial, as well as softens the texture of your hair. All these wonderful advantages of castor oil come from all the fatty acids in it. It is a very well-known product to use for hair growth….you can apply it directly to the area of hair loss on your scalp, or because it is quite a sticky and thick liquid, it would be best to mix it with another oil, like coconut oil (another amazing oil for your hair).
7) Coconut oil
Coconut oil helps your hair grow longer and reduces the breakage of your hair when applied regularly. I normally would soak my entire head in coconut oil so it moisturizes my hair thoroughly…this oil definitely does not stink. My hair has now become thicker and fuller after years of using it when I was younger. If you have extreme hair fall, I would suggest trying the other remedies mentioned; however, if you are healthy but have thin hair and all you want is thicker/longer hair, then this would be the easiest and best solution for you.

8) Rice water
As an old Chinese remedy, women would soak their hair in rice water as part of their beauty routines. Now it is well-known to grow hair and stop hair fall. There is a smoother feel to your hair after applying it as it helps detangle each strand as friction decreases. This all comes from amino acids it consists of, therefore more minerals and vitamins for healthy hair.
Soak a bowl of rinsed rice (1 cup) in 3-4 cups of water, leave it for half an hour to an hour, and strain the water out. Massage the rice water into your hair and scalp after using and washing out your shampoo. Do this at least once a week to see why this is another one of the amazing natural remedies for hair loss listed above.
